Best Grinding for Gold and XP, Levels 36-40
The best spot for leveling between levels 36-40 is in the rock elemental area just east of Kargath in the Badlands (around 15,37). Because of its proximity to Kargath, a Horde outpost, I would say this is a better spot for Horde than for Alliance. However on RP and PVE servers this point is moot (so grind away Nelf hunters), and I have grinded (no, not ground, lol) this area in relative peace on PVP and RP-PVP realms, as well (that includes ganking as well as getting ganked – I must have been feeling generous).
The mobs you will want to focus on are Lesser Rock Elementals and Rock Elementals. While I wouldn’t say their respawn rates are super-fast, they are fast enough and the area large enough to conceivably support 5-6 players grinding simultaneously. Optimal use of the area would be 2-3 players, however, and if you are alone you should never run out of mobs while grinding.
These rock elementals also drop excellent vendor trash for this level range. You can easily net up to 8 gold an hour just by keeping and selling items like Lifeless Stones, Jagged Pieces of Stone, and Smooth Stone Chips. They also have superb drop rates for Elemental Earth, Deeprock Salt and Solid Stone, which are all used in crafting.
All in all, this is a great grinding spot to level quickly when you get impatient about waiting for your mount, and it’s also a great area to make sure you have the funds to afford that mount. Given that there are also a few “kill xx mobs for drops” quests right nearby for this area, this is my spot of choice for these levels.

Get Titan Panel and make sure the TitanXP option is showing. It will show you how much xp/hour you are averaging and that will give you the best idea of how much time it will take you personally. It can also motivate you to go faster if you try to constantly make the average go up.
hey guys grinding lvls is prolly the slowest way to lvl look up this addon QuestHelper it will lvl u 3to5 lvls in 3 hrs grinding is slow and stupid dont do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes… grinding is a stupid thing… but i hate quests… they’re always the same… go here, go there, kill XXX of this mob, than go to the other point of the whole f.ing world… but on that time as you are grinding, you collect much MORE exp and drop than running after a stupid quest what asked you to go to the north point of STV from the shimmering flats.. (and on this lvl you don’t have a mount…!)
so this little trip takes about 15-20 minutes by foot.
during this, staying on shimmering flats makes you about 2 lvls… killing a mob with a PRIEST!!! is about 40 seconds… that means 30 mobs… let’s count how many exps more than the quest what gives you 5000 plus the 1500 (what is 6500 together…) of the exploring the new areas…
i think grinding won this match…

… I’ve tried this area… nice… more than 900 exp / mob… very good… i can only offer this for anyone… and the trash loot is also awsome
